Owamat Oil water separator -
Cleaning the environment
The new BEKO Owamat
11-16 is here. Based on the
best selling predecessor Owamat series installed at thousands of
sites for the last two decades. The new Owamat is the new
benchmark for their continuous improvement in design and performance
to separate oily condensates.
Conventional
disposal method is carried out by local authorized scheduled waste
contractors which charge the effluents by weight; that can be a very
heavy burden. Due to the fact that oily condensates are easily
separated by gravity settlement and activated carbon filtration.
Only oil are collected and send for scheduled waste, not the entire
bulk condensates. The cost saving is huge and fast payback
using Owamat.
Owamat
11-16 Oil water separators are known for
its superior cost savings and functions:
-
Suitable for all
compressed air plant sizes
-
No electricity
energy required
-
National technical approval for
all sizes
-
No permit according to the law on
water required
-
Weekly maintenance only
-
Fast payback within a few months
Beko
Owamat oil water separator - Working Principle
Oil lubricated compressors inevitably generate compressed air
containing oil mists(gaseous), as compressed air being filtered by
compressed air element, or being cooled down in a
refrigerant dryer. Oil mists will change
into liquid and ready to be discharged from drain port of the filter
housings, receiver tank, etc., respectively.
However the oil discharged to public drain is hazardous to
environment. Here is how Owamat works: Connecting all drain
ports from all compressed air installation into an Owamat for oil and
water separation.

The oil-contaminated
condensate/effluent flows under pressure into the newly designed pressure
relief chamber( 1).
Here, the pressure is released without creating turbulence in
the separation tank(2). All coarse
dirt particles or grits are held back in a removable trap(3)
which can be taken out for cleaning.
Inside the separation tank,
the oil settles on the surface as a result of gravity separation. The
oil flows into the overflow-proof oil container( 4).
While the pre-cleaned
condensate(still have minute oil content) flows into the filtration stage. The pre-filter( 5),
which is characterized by its ideal flow pattern from the inside to
the outside, binds the remaining oil droplets. It also deals with
any residual floating oil in the filter chamber.
The remaining oil
particles are safely and reliably retained in the main filter
cartridge (6)
with activated carbon.
The end result is purified water legally to be discharged directly
into the public sewer system. User can check the discharge water
quality from the outlet tap(7). While service
indicator(8) will appear indicating a service attention.

Owamat Oil water separator - Servicing
Thanks to the cartridge
technology, filter replacement is both quick and clean.

Step 1: take grip-strap
Step 2: lift cartridge
Step 3: allow it to drain

Owamat Oil water separator - Sizing chart
1. Calculate compressor
capacity in m3/min and determine compressor oil type.
2. Use respective color
zone(Green
zone is for Northern USA, Canada, Northern Europe,
Central Asia;
Blue zone is for Central/Southern Europe, Central
American;
Red
zone is for South East Asia, Oceania and Amazon).
For example: 25 m3/min
